Module
Aim(s): |
This
module provides students with an overview on
occupational safety, occupational health, and
construction site safety and the associated
legislative provisions in Hong Kong. It also
provides hands-on training for students in
identification and prevention of potential
hazards on construction sites; accident analysis
and prevention strategies. Safety management and
the role of safety supervisor and safety officer
in worksites will be described. A Workshop
Training and Industrial Training will be
provided to the students following the
completion of the formal lectures of the module.

Objectives: |
On
completion of this Module, students are expected
to be able to:
1. supervise the occupational health, safety,
and environmental practices at workplace with
conformation to the construction safety
regulations, and occupational safety and health
ordinances and regulations in Hong Kong;
2. perform the basic skills in the operation of
mechanical and electrical tools and equipment,
and identify the safety hazards associated with
mechanical, electrical and construction
workplaces and adopt good work practice for
avoidance of potential accidents;
3. conduct accident investigation and implement
prevention strategies for potential hazards in
construction site and industrial workplace
environment; and
4. implement the safety management and risk
assessment techniques in construction sites and
industrial workplace, and the development of
site-specific safety management plan.
