Module
Aim(s): |
The
module aims to provide students with an overview
on the project management, installations,
commissioning, and maintenance of the major
building services components for contemporary
buildings in Hong Kong. Typical engineering
practices for testing, evaluation and
commissioning methods will be discussed with
illustrative examples and case histories for new
and restorative buildings in Hong Kong. The
associated statutory requirements in
relationship to the operation and maintenance of
building facilities will be discussed.

Objectives: |
On
completion of this Module, students are expected
to be able to:
1. design and conduct evaluation tests and
commissioning methods for building services
installations, develop procedure and conduct
examination in evaluating the associated
installations and workmanships in meeting all
the specifications and/or legal requirements;
2. develop judgment procedure and acceptance
criteria for any potential fault/problem of
works/failed building services/equipment and
develop long term maintenance plans for
contractual and sustainability control;
3. evaluate long term maintenance resources in
facilities management, and develop necessary
operation requirements for the long term
operation and maintenance of building
facilities; and
4. develop performance specification and
remedial methodology for implementation of
maintenance and/or renovation works with respect
to particular facilities management situations.
