07-Apr-03: URGENT:
As the University has further suspended all formal teaching classes to
13 April 2003, our lecture of 10 April 2003 will be cancelled. In order
to reduce the impact on your study, you are asked to continue your learning/study
at home/hall/library during the suspension period. The following procedures
should be taken to facilitate your learning and our communication.
-
1. Web-based
learning. You can read and study lecture materials on the course
website and WebCT.
If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact the
lecturer(s) via email or telephone.
-
2. Review
Questions. After completing the module, you should study the review
questions at the end of the web page and prepare an answer to them using
your own writing. You should submit your answer to the lecturer(s) by email
on or before the last lecture (24 April 2003). The lecturer will try to
provide feedback via email on your work.
-
3. Discussions.
Students are encouraged to raise other useful points for discussion. This
can be done via email or by posting the messages on the discussion board
of the WebCT.
-
4. Feedbacks.
The lecturer(s) will provide feedbacks to the students via email or discussion
board.

Synopsis: This talk will review
the stat-of-the-art computational methods for state-estimation of linear
control systems in state-space forms, with a special attention to estimating
the state of descriptor systems. As an application of the later, a new
algorithm for state-estimation of matrix second-order control systems is
proposed. The talk will conclude with discussion of some future research
problems on this and related topics.
