Wish List on BEMCS by Our Students

    Wish List 2009-2010:

    • I wish all products related to building, including construction material, paints, equipment, etc. can be reused, recycled and reduce. Also, I wish BEMCS become more popular and cheap, so it can import to each household easily. Therefore, by using BEMCS everywhere, it can maximize energy saving in our life. (Chan Cheuk Hung)
    • I wish the BEMCS system can be applied comprehensively on household basis. For example, the system can help perform complicated cooking works. A resident can enjoy his/her delicous breakfast in their house after freshening up so that he/she does not waste time for cooking. (Tsang Wai Man Wyman)
    • i hope all building can use renewable energy in the future. Moreover, i wish robots can do all the housework like cleaning and cooking. (Yuen Ming Kwan)
    • I wish the renewable energy can be developed much faster than now and can be widely use in future, especially for those applying on buildings, so less electricity from fossil fuel will be required and less green house gases will be generated. (Chan Ho Sum)
    • I hope the BEMCS could link up with more renewable energy sources like solar energy, wind energy to maximize the energy efficiency of the building. (Chung Hin Yeung Tommy)
    • I wish building automation system can give "no barrier" livings to the disabilities. For example, to alert the blinds when danger; to deliver things for mobility impaired people. (Lam Yan Ting)
    • I wish all the electronic devices in our home are connected together and can be controlled by the same controller. And the controller is capable to sense our thought or emotion to do the specific action that we want. (Yuen Kar Chun Ray)
    • I wish the renewable energy used in the commercial building (e.g. PV panel) can be widely applied to all the residential building in the future. Therefore, the energy consumption and the carbon emission can be reduced in order to safve our planet. (Wong Ki Fung Mike)
    • I hope robot servants can be installed in every home so that help us to do all housework. (SIU Wing Hei)
    • I wish the air conditioning system can measure the oxygen content inside the room automatically and use it as a outdoor air control parameter apart from the enthalpy and dry bulb temperature. (Lawrence Ko)
    • I wish there will be an artificial sun so that we will have sufficent vision in all cases (at night, rainny day...). (Kwok Chi Kwan Chapmann)
    • I wish that the home is no more wires in the future. Appliances such as notebook, mobile phone or any electric equipments can be wireless charged, just put them on any desk. (Ho Sin Wai Eva)
    • I wish there is a weather control device that can control the climate over a year. Therefore, we can obtain a thermal comfort environment all the time. (Lau Chun Chau)
    • If the BEMCS in the future can be implemented in different type of buildings rather than just apply on the residential building, then the energy consumption can be reduce hence the purpose of environmental friendly can be achieved. (Lao Seak Hong)
    • I wish there will be a memory stick for our human brains, so we can save and load things in one second to enhance our memory. (Lai Yuen Yee)
    • I hope future BEMCS can detect users’ feelings automatically with very high accuracy, and adjust to the most comfortable environment that matches exactly with their needs. With the ever evolving technologies, the sensors would be more sensitive with higher resolutions, where the temperatures changes on e.g. the head due to neuron activities can be detected. So the system becomes controllable by human’s mind without any direct contacts. This would also help maintain security in the environment because e.g. in case of burglary, the system detects threat and perform required actions e.g. contacting local police and raising alarms immediately. (Yeung Yan Chak Hermann)

    • I wish renewable energy can be used as a major part in intelligent buildings, hence green house effect and influence of global warming can be minimised. (Pang Tsz Man)
    • Use of voice recognition systems: The same type of processors that allow telephones to convert analog voice patterns to digital signals could be used to allow the building's occupants to tell elevators which floor they wish to access, or to turn up the air volume in a room, or to switch on/off the lights in a particular space. (Lim Wan Ling Evon)
    • I wish there will be a robot that does housework for our buildings automatically controlled by building control system. It also helps in maintenance and killing harmful insects. (Yuen Chun Yin)
    • I wish that there is no need to control building automation system through physical panels in the future. • The building automation system in the future should have something more to play with bioengineering. The building can directly feel your body condition by the sensors implanted inside the body. The body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and even blood sugar level etc. are sent as inputs into BAS. And these data will be sent to a personal controller to give the specific response which makes that occupant feel good. As a result, there are types of two sensors in the BAS in the future. First type is the traditional one which detects the building condition. And the second type is the one put inside the human body. (Wong Po Lun)
