    QF Level: 4
    Credit Points: 3
    Year: 2
    Pre-requisite: Engineering Thermodynamics
    Co-requisite: Nil
Module Aim(s): This module provides students with the fundamentals of heat and mass transfer and their applications in buildings and in building services systems. Steady and non-steady state heat conduction, heat convention and thermal radiation, mass transfer of air, water vapour and moisture are discussed. This module is a preparation for their future study in the building services engineering.
Objectives: On completion of this Module, students are expected to be able to:
    1. relate the basic theories of heat and mass transfer and their significances in building services engineering
    2. evaluate on the thermal problems of various built environments and make recommendation on the use of thermal building components and resources for the planning and design of buildings; and
    3. analyse and calculate various heat and mass transfer processes by applying the operation principles of related building services systems..
    Assessment Methods: • Test (20%)
    • Laboratory practice and report (20%)
     • Examination (60%)
