19. Acoustics
19.1 Introduction
As T.T.T. Building site alongside the Fung Ping Shan Museum, hence one of the facades faces Bonham Road is considered as noisiet part of the building. People are disturbed by road traffic, hence concrete roofs and masonry walls are used for soud insulation.
Masonry walls are used in the functional areas to provide airborne sound insulation.
Ventilation plant introduces two main problems The fan and motor produce noise and vibration which can be disturbing even in rooms not served by the system. The ventilation ducts can provide short circuits to the insulation between rooms, and to insulation from external noise. Hence the plant is located in area where the disturbance is not very critical. Noise radiated directly from the fan and motor can be contained within the plant room by normal air-borne sound insulation principles.
