Module
Aim(s): |
This
module provides an integrative view on the
design and analysis of indoor air quality (IAQ)
and indoor environment by the consideration of
different types and functions of various
building components in heating, ventilation, air
conditioning, refrigeration (HVACR) and energy
recovery systems commonly adopted for building
services in Hong Kong. The effects of physical,
biological and chemical parameters in affecting
the IAQ of buildings and indoor spaces will be
examined and solutions to the problems will be
developed. In addition, the module will examine
the indoor acoustical problems associated with
various HVACR components and the development of
solutions to these problems.
|
Objectives: |
On
completion of this Module, students are expected
to be able to:
1. design various HVACR and energy recovery
systems in order to maintain desirable indoor
environment and comfort for different types and
functions of building;
2. analyse the processes and performances of
various HVACR and energy recovery systems for
better IAQ, building functions and occupancy
comfort;
3. resolve indoor air quality problems according
to the effects of physical, biological and
chemical parameters, and the development of
basic strategy for better IAQ, and the
development of assessment techniques to resolve
indoor air quality problems in accordance with
the relevant codes and practice; and
4. analyse the problems and development of
engineering solutions to resolve indoor
acoustical and vibrational problems in
association with various HVACR components
according to relevant codes of practice.
