New Energy Systems:
Cutting-Edge Technology in Harmony with Nature
Energy is considered by many people to be the most important issue in environmental preservation. The development of highly efficient and environment-friendly energy sources is vital for protecting the environment not only in developing countries, but in developed countries as well. This facility is powered manly by a power generating system located in a nearby incineration plant, and in part by new energy systems featuring solar cells and fuel cells. The facility also incorporates many environment-friendly systems that are each designed for minimal impact on urban environments. Included are a natural cooling system based on methods used in traditional Japanese homes, energy-saving lighting, and a water supply and drainage system using high technology. The operating details of each system can be seen inside the facility.

The facility has been designed to provide an ideally comfortable environment in each of the building's three zones. The air-conditioner combines with the gas and electric systems and with waste heat recovered from the fuel cell generator to serve as a source for heating and cooling operations. The outside atrium requires no artificial air-conditioning. Energy-saving light fixtures are used throughout the facility. A central control system is used to monitor the lighting and switch the fixtures on and off. Overhead office illumination is kept low, while desktop illumination is brighter. The entire facility is equipped with water-saving sanitary devices. Waster heat from the fuel cell generator is used for the hot water supply, and rainwater is collected at the reservoir, purified, and used in the outdoor sprinkler system.
