Preservation of Existing redoubt
The idea of rehabilitate the old redoubt for a museum can minimized the construction waste generate from demolishing the existing structure. Keeping the original form of the building with new features added, the heritage can be reused for a new purpose. Through this project, this 19th century Victorian heritage can be well conserved in a sustainable way.
Minimizing the excavation work
All cables and pipes are installed in the plant room of the reception building. All services like electricity, water supply and drainage system were installed and connect to the Redoubt through the reception building. Excavation work is thus minimized.
Harmony to Existing Environment
The whole structure is enclosed with the greenery. Most of the original vegetations are conserved. The museum was built in a harmony with the surrounding environment.
