The project was initiated by the Hong Kong SAR and the British Governments, INTEGER Intelligent & Green Ltd., Swire Properties, Gammon Skanska, CLP Power, the Hong Kong Housing Authority and the Hong Kong Housing Society. The INTEGER principles, which means intelligent & Green, include ideas on construction innovation, sustainable materials, green technologies, intelligent systems, and the layout, orientation, shape and appearance of a residence. Initially the idea was to fit out an existing empty shell in a residential block, but the idea quickly developed to construct a new apartment within an exhibition pavilion and a model of a 40-storey building is on display demonstrating initiatives used in the Integer Hong Kong Pavilion applied to a potential high-rise development.
The Pavilion composite of 2 floors, the ground floor area includes a reception and exhibition area, conference suite and washroom facilities. The upper floor recreates the floor plan of a typical Hong Kong Residential building.
Building Aim
The aims for building the Pavilion is in fourfold - firstly is to develop Intelligent and Green residential concept for Hong Kong. Secondly is to challenge current legislation to improve building efficiency and functionality. Thirdly, is to engage all parties involved in residential development: government, designers, developers and consumers. Lastly, is to raise customer expectations for housing.
