Millennium
House
The Millennium
House in Watford is the first INTEGER House in the world. The house was completed
within 18 weeks with no contracts involved and the materials for building
were donated by suppliers.
The INTEGER
Millennium House was functioned as a demonstration house since it opened 4
years ago, showcasing the origins of the INTEGER concept.
Design
and Construction Innovation

was chosen to provide good insulation and it is low maintenance

modules were craned into the site as fully completed timber-framed rooms
A central service core allow for easy access for maintenance and upgrade

heat pump
- Solar water
heaters mounted on the roof can provide free hot water at up to 95°c
- A grey water
system treats and recycles water and re-uses as flushing water
- Rainwater
is collected, treated for garden irrigation and car washing
Intelligent
Technologies
- Heating system
only operating it when heat is required
- Automatic
garden irrigation system only waters those plants which need it.
- Intelligent
security system picks up intruders
- Systems will
automatically turn off when the house is unoccupied, and also that on returning
home, all of the systems "wake-up" automatically as soon as you step in
the front door
- Door keys
equipped with a microchip allow the key to be programmed to open any door
in the house - or can be restricted to only give access to certain areas.
- CCTV cameras
are broadcast on a spare analogue television channel around the house so
that they can be viewed on every TV screen
